Obama's Presidential Address

Tonight, as many of you know, President Barack Obama spoke to the entire nation and outlined his plan for dealing with Afghanistan.

He approved 30,000 additional U.S. troops to deploy to Afghanistan, including one group of Marines which will be in the country within three weeks and at their posts by Christmas.

He also asked NATO to supply an additional 10,000 troops to supplement ours.

I'm curious as to how you all view this decision. As a soon-to-be member of the National Guard, I am a bit worried, since this means I could deploy at any time starting December 2010 after my training is completed.

What does everyone think of Obama's decision, and on the war in Afghanistan in general?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving!

I don't know about the rest of you, but my personal favorite part of Thanksgiving is the day after, Black Friday. You can be sure I'll post if I get anything really cool (or see anything completely ridiculous, such as last Black Friday's riots and deaths and tramplings and such).

In other news, please help me promote Political Blockbuster. The blog's only two days old but I wanna get it up and running with actual viewers. So if you could just put the word out on Facebook or Twitter (god-awful site that it is) or MySpace (if anyone besides bands and spammers still uses it, oh wait, the guidos do) or mass text messages or whatever. Just help us out please :)

Thanks and happs holiday,
Brandon

Obama's Unofficial Afghanistan Decision (Nov. 23)

President Barack Obama held an emergency war council meeting last night in Washington to discuss sending more troops to Afghanistan.

Official reports say that Obama has not rendered a decision yet as to how many additional troops will be sent over, but reports from military officials and others cite numbers between 32,000 and 35,000. The increase would include "at least three Army brigades and one Marine Corps contingent." (Huffingtonpost.com) The additional troops would supplement the record 68,000 troops already in Afghanistan, and would for the most part go to the southern and eastern areas where most of the troops already are.

Obama has already put over 20,000 new troops in since he took office, and combat death's have increased. The public approval rating of Obama's strategies and of the war have dropped. My question to you is what is your opinion on the new troops going in?
